Challenge: Use natural light for 5 hours this week rather then using
electricity.

Why: Studies show that excessive levels of artificial light produce
annoyance and health effects in a large fraction of the population.

Why use Natural Light?
Increases energy efficiency and reduces climate impact
Improves indoor environment for humans
Improves people's efficiency to accomplish tasks.

How Do I know for sure?
Albany University instituted a "Natural Light" program after realizing
that the administrative offices alone would save at least $14,000 per
year if private offices used natural light instead of overhead lights

for just 3 hours every day.

Reuse 10 pieces of scrap paper rather than throwing them away and
wasting a new sheet of paper.

Why?
With all the office paper we waste every year we could build a 12-foot
high wall of paper from New York to California.
Recycling one ton of paper saves 682.5 gallons of oil
US Offices create 12.1 trillion sheets of paper Per Year.
40% of the solid mass in landfills is paper and paperboard waste.
Paper usage is rising by around 20% every year, with the average
office worker using approximately 50 sheets of paper every day in the

typical office.
